Re: Silvia vs Prelude

Well, if he's talking about the actual Silvia from overseas, it's not.

Re: Silvia vs Prelude

Hes got an Ausi IP, so he has access to the real Silvia, in which case this thread is differnt.

The question is which silvia is he after, there were some that are a good match for the Prelude and potentialy a lot faster, and there are some that are best left to rot in Japanese scrap yards.

Re: Silvia vs Prelude

The Silvia S13 should still wax a Prelude even if it had the 190hp VTEC motor. We are talking 200hp in a 2600 lb body while the last generation Prelude was 190 in a 3000 lb body. Plus w/it being turbo, the Silvia just needs a few bolt ons and turning up the boost to waste the Lude.

Real Silvia's rock!

Re: Silvia vs Prelude

Silvia. Handling should be better, plus you have an s420 in there, which is easier to mod than the H22 or H23, whichever one the prelude would have.

Depends what model Silvia it is.
There are Silvias and there are Silvia's. There are some pretty low spec models out there that even my POS Prelude could take for a walk.

Sorry.... I know it's not your fault but y'know, on a site where spelling and grammar is often enforced.
I think I'll shut up now.

True but if we are talking something comparable 200hp to 190hp then we'd assume the top of the line Silvia's.

Re: Silvia vs Prelude

Silvia's are junk. Well at least the J's and Q's models are.

The K's has the right engine and a good chassis, but if it's an S13, then that's where the good bits end otherwise it's cramped, ugly and rides terribly.

The Lude is better looking, but they're still cramped (I had the EXi model of the 4th Gen Prelude many moons ago and it was a shitter, but it also had the engine from a rep-box Accord, rather than an H22A which is the only engine to go for in the Prelude), they handle pretty well though, but if it's not a DOHC VTEC model, then steer clear of it.

I'm not sure how much an E30 BMW 325i Coupe is where you are, but that's what I'd be looking at, much easier to maintain than either of the above (Though more expensive if you are clueless as to where to get your parts from)
