Question Radio probs when rear defroster turned on

My wife recently purchased a 2001 Alero and the radio works fine until you turn on the rear defroster. All that comes through is static. The dealer she purchased it from is telling her that its normal, but I can't see anyone making a car like this. I know that the antenna is in the back windshield so I'm guessing (hoping) it is a grounding problem. Any Help would be appreciated.

That's definately not normal. Like you said, it sounds like a grounding thing since both the defroster and antenna are in the rear window.

I know this is a long shot..but what i think it could be the moduel that is on the pass side in the rear, behind the panel, try replacing that.

Re: Radio probs when rear defroster turned on

there is a radio lead connection on the pass. floor-close to the door sill-this connection pulls apart by the passengers right foot and creates problems like this-just clean up-reconnect and tape together-problem solved!

I had found this repair in my search for help. I did try it but the problem remains.

I think you may have found something here!! If I disconnect the module or black box on the driver side and run a jumper to ground the noise is gone. I wonder, what is the purpose of that module? The ground for the rear defroster goes into this black box. I would like to eliminate it with a wire straight to ground.
