Engine Swap?????

My engine just locked up today. I am thinking about either keeping the D15 and turbo it or dropping a h22. Any one have any suggestions????

Re: Engine Swap?????

Well, lets be honest here... In all reality, if your "thinkin of keepin the D" then you probably dont have a very big budget... Dont worry, theres nothing wrong with that... We can all undersand budgets... Which is why I swapped in a D over a B... Just dont get eyes bigger than your wallet is all Im saying...

If you can afford an H (I personally wouldnt do an H swap into a 4th gen Civic or CRX) and want to do it, then do it... Ofcoruse it will be faster (in a straight line) than a turbo'd D... For a drag car, this would make an awesome swap... But the street is a different story...

But personally, tho its been debated for some time now, I still feel the the H is way too heavy for the chasis... (people argue the H isnt much heavier than the B, but by like 30 pounds, yes this may be true, but the chasis was not made for a B, it was made for a D, so consider the weight difference of a D and B which is probably 10-20 lbs, plus the 30 of the H, thats a much heavier engine in a car not designed for it, plus its not all a weight issue, its also the sheer amount of torque coming from that H that causes steering issues) You will have serious steering problems unless you put extensive mods in the suspension, plus the brakes will not stop it, which means money there... Then more money for larger rims to fit over the larger brakes... Youll have to beat the piss out of the frame to get it in there to begin with...

And after all is said and done, a nice B swap would be cheaper, easier, and will net u about the same, if not more power... And then youll still have room in the engine bay to turbo it if it dosnt...
