Oil in 2000 Impreza RS

I'm wondering what thickness of oil I should go with when I change my oil this weekend. I want to go with something pretty thick but I don't want to go overboard so what should I go with?

5W/30

Try using what the owners book recommends, using something thicker will cause engine wear.
