Question Squeeling Coming From Wheel

I have a 1998 Nissan Sentra. For the last few days, I have been hearing a high-pitched squeeling noise (that sounds like metal against metal) that sounds like it's coming from the front passenger wheel. It's only been happening intermittently (not constant) while I'm driving and not necessarily while I'm braking.

Don't the Sentra brake pads have a spring on them so the brake pad is only depressed when I'm actually using the brakes? Since the noise is there whether I'm braking or not, that's what makes me wonder if it's something other than the brakes. Am I wrong? What could be causing this noise?

Any help would be great. Thanks!

I would still guess that it's your brakes. My sound was exactly like yours and it turned out to be the brakes.

the alternator belt will give off a bad squeal if its not adjusted right or if its worn out. its close to the passenger front wheel also.

I have the EXACT same problem on my 92' se-r, and it's more prominent when I turn my wheel to the left, and it stops for a bit whenever I tap my brakes.

A technician at work told me to get this adhesive stuff from the auto parts store, and put on the back of the pad to keep it in place. I just changed my rotors up front, and I know for a fact none of my cotter pins a rubbing. I'm confident this will work (although I haven't done it yet)

puting the anti-squeal will fix it, I had that problem and when I replaced the pads I used the anti-squeal and it fixed it.
