If i hadn't gotten the scholarship I did, i was gonna be payin back some monsterous amounts of student loans, but at least I'd have an education. Studyin for and doin good on your ACTs will do wonders for your scholarship prospects. I managed to score pretty well and ended up getting free tuition becuase of it.

why would u take the SAT? definetely should be taking the ACT instead, especially if ur not totally sure what ur doing since on the ACT ur not penalized for guessing like u are on the SAT. took it twice, got a 26 now i just have to find some time apart from hw to apply to college...

Very true, the SAT isnt all that important, for the most part, unless you go to an east coast school. ACTs are considered alot more everywhere else. Getting somewhere in the mid 20's and up should give you a decent chance at getting into a college. I got a 31 myself, and I had alot of schools that offered me scholarships. None were a full ride, but the one from Lincoln Christian College, where I'm goin now, was pretty close. Moral of the story, DO GOOD ON THE ACT!

Re: Whoa...college.

I have like, a 3.8 GPA, unweighted. I take honors and AP classes, so that's not a problem.

The new SAT high score is a 2400. I got an 1800, which converts back to like, a 1200 on the old one. Which isn't that bad. I just registered for the ACT, which I found out is easier for females (just what I've heard...).

There's a scholarship program in FL called Bright Futures, and I meet all the requirements for two of the 75% scholarships. I need like, 30 more points on the SAT to get the 100% one. Which really stresses me out. That's also why I'm taking the ACT. To qualify for the scholarship, I need to get a 28. Wish me luck!

Oh yeah, I applied to UCF and FSU yesterday. I plan on applying to UWF and UNF at the on-site admission at my school. Quite honestly, UCF is the only school I want to go to. And I'm pretty sure I can get in. I hope. I'm nervous.

Re: Whoa...college.

High score is 2400, there is an essay, as part of the 'Writing Section' that also includes some stupid sentence correction, proper grammer type stuff. The math section includes math up to Algebra II stuff (basic functions)...I just took the new one two weeks ago after thinking that I was done after I took the old version. Turns out that even though the CollegeBoard wants schools to accept both the old and new SAT for the Class of '06 (my class) since we're the transition year as far as switching tests goes, most schools are doing as they please, and requiring the new one, even if they don't know what to do with it because it's so new. Anyways, the new one that I just took seemed much easier to me then the old one that I took last January...
EDIT: Nicole beat me to it

Haha, that was kinda crazy. Anyway, I took the new one in March. It was the first new test date and there were stupid news crews everywhere. I thought I was going to do a little bit better than I did, although the new one was easier than the old one.

I'm really wanting Chapel Hill, and my SAT scores come back monday, i answered every question but one and I really feel like I knew it all. I hope I did. Wish me luck folks.

Good luck to all the other applicants too!

Re: Whoa...college.

Yea I'm in NY so the SAT is required by almost every school that i'm gonna apply to. I'm also registered to take the ACT in december so that can only help me, and it helps with the scholarships too. I'm prolly gonna have to go to a community college for a year or two(which i really do not want to do) in order to get my grades up, and i also didn't do shit extracuricular wise while i was in highschool. Why is that you think you know everything when you're in highschool, and then you get out and you're like "oh man i fucked up so bad?" Peace-

Re: Whoa...college.

Not really that worried or stressed. I got a 33 on my ACT and I have a 3.77 GPA unweighted. And my choice of college isn't really that big of a deal, so I feel I have a good chance getting into whatever I want.

Re: Whoa...college.

No worries about UCF Nicole, I told you it's a cinch to get into here. UNF sucks!!! Don't go there...and FSU is not a good place. It's literally in the middle of the ghetto and is the #1 party school. Too much chaos... Sweet escape for weekends though!
