1996 Tahoe am radio reception

Has anyone has trouble with the AM side of the stock delco radio in a 1996 chevy tahoe. Everything works fine but I cannot get any am reception anywhere. I replaced the antenna mast, but no help, I am fearful of taking the radio out because of the theftlock system will cause me more problems. any ideas?
thanks

I fixed it!, I was reading somewhere on the net to check the antenna mount on the fender. I took it apart and found that the aluminum nut that mounts the antenna to the fender was full of corrosion. I cleaned it out and i now have AM radio reception. I should have known better to check the simple stuff first, but I hope this helps for others having the same problem.
