'93 Lesabre hesitates in the begining

If looked for thread LIKE this but somehow they are not as specific.

Here's what.

I start car-fine.

It rolls idle down hill-awesome.

At stop it looks clear both ways (always dangerous at this part and is now scaring me to death)

I step on gas. Car decides to think about it while I wait in the middle of the road to get hit by cars coming around bend. Once car get going...no problem.

Plugs, wires, air filter, oil, injector cleaner, SEAFOAM (me) fuel filter (mechanic), all new. No check engine lights. Computer says all is well.

Had a previous issue with hesitation while accelerating at any speed replaced plugs and wires. Instantly cured. Then this started over a few weeks during the summer.

Ready to give up at this point anyway as the August organization know as the EPA has forced a steaming pile of paint formula on my car that a strong wind will peel off.

I have a good mechanic though, knows his stuff and all but that damnable computer of his says "tip top". At this point I don't care if the car is ready to self destruct, I just want to solve the mystery.

Thanx

Re: '93 Lesabre hesitates in the begining

I have a 99 that has an almost undetectable hesitation or lack of power when I take off slowly. If I am more aggressive, it takes off OK. Its seems worse if I have the wheels turned before I apply gas pedal. Ive done all the above including O2 sensor and PCV, but no improvement. I guess Ill learn to live with it till it gets worse.

Some possibilities that come to mind:

The fuel pump could be getting old and/or clogged at the input screen inside the gas tank, or your gas tank could have a buildup of sediment that is clogging the flow until sufficient force is generated by hitting the gas pedal. (seems very unlikely)

Your vacuum could have a leak. (your mechanic would have checked this I think)

Your fuel injectors may have one or more failing. Have your mechanic do an injector balance test, and also check each injector individually for proper operation.

Really these are all just wild speculations and you need to get it to a good GM dealership for detailed testing of all systems which could cause such a problem (unless your mechanic can do such tests).

Lastly, does it do this no matter how long it has been running? Will it do it after running for a half hour for example? If it only happens when the engine is cold and you feel you are in danger, run the car for 15 minutes before you leave.

Just an idea, I had a bonneville with same engine and simaler problem. Try unhooking EGR valve and drive it. Mine was opening wide open on accell and cauing same problem. New valve fixed the problem.
