"check brake light/rear light "

Hi,

Could someone please help me to figure out the message on my 2001 X5"Check brake light/rear light". The message is still on even though I have replaced the light bulbs several times. I could not locate the fuse box to see if it is bad. Thanks.

if you've replaced the lamps with the proper bulbs, the problem is most likely the fixture

Thanks for your response, I may have to replace the new light assembly but it costs too much. I found an excellent article on the BMW x5 forum suggesting simple ways to fix the problem. I will let you know if I can get it fixed.

Hi

I take out the tail light assembly and found a burn spot on the base. By sanding it down and clean it with vinegard, my brake/rear light is back. This saves me $150.00 for a new tail light assembly.
