Question about brakes/hesitation
Hey, I'm new to this board. I have a few questions about my 1996 LeSabre 3.8. First, I have a leak in my braking system. Not sure if its the lines, master cylinder, or what. Loses an entire fill of fluid every 2-3 days. How can I troubleshoot/ locate the source of the leak, and is this a common problem? Also, the car hesitates as I accelerate. While on the highway, it stutters and shakes, and will only accelerate if I push the pedal down hard, and even then it accelerates only slowly. Seems to be better during the winter months/ on start up when the engine and intake air are cold. On my old Taurus SHO and my dad's GNX, I had a similar problem, and it was the vacuum lines. However, the lines are intact, which leads me to the torque converter. Again, how can I troubleshoot this, and is it a common problem. Plugs/wires are new AC Delco double plats. Also, no CE light comes on, and there are no codes to pull. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Re: Question about brakes/hesitation
Check the INSIDE part of your tires to find the leak in the brake system. That much brake lost is going somewhere and drips out onto your tire.

Re: Question about brakes/hesitation
I bought a 1989 buick LaSabre limited and am having a HARD time finding the fuse box. I've looked in the book, behind the glove box,in the trunk. You name it. Please HELP!! My radio, heater and horn all went out at the same time.

LYNN GUY, your fuse box is located to the left of your steering wheel, behind that wood-like plastic. it covers your headlight switch and dimmer switch. open your driver door and look into your car at the dashboard you will see black screws (2) holding it in place.
as for the other guy. sorry i dont know your name. your brake fluid will usually run out as you pump the brakes with the car on and engine running. check under the vehicle for fluid leaks as well as brake hoses which are on the front wheels and at the rear wheels where your wheel cylinders are. if possible remove tires. |
