squeal/whirl noise from mk4 golf on idle

Hey, I have a 99 Golf Mk4 1.6 and today it went to the garage to get its shocks done, they also changed the gearbox oil which they said was very black and the reset the throttle body, when i collected the car this evening i noticed a slight whirl/squeal noise, and when i got home it was a bit louder, its only really noticable when idleing though, it kind of sounds like a belt or something, what could it be? They also adjusted the clutch pedals etc.
