Solid or Cross Drilled Rotor ?

Hi,

My Primera comes with Solid Rotor both front and back.

Just wondering is it possible to change to those cross drilled rotors ?

What's the difference ?

Which is it better ?

Yes, you can, but it has been shown that it does not improve braking much at all...bigger rotors/calipers and ss brake lines are a better upgrade.

The OEM pads/rotors are good for street use.

from what i learned, the crossed drilled rotors dissipate brake gasses that form during braking, especially during hard braking. this helps the brakes not to fade as fast. i would recommend cross drilled rotors with metallic brake pads, and the stainless steel braided brake lines make such a difference if you're going to be doing a lot of rigorous driving. if not, save your money for other toys for your g...hehe

I vote slotted. Haven't seen a race car yet (in the flesh) with cross drilled rotors.

i think both are equally good, especially with the kind of daily driving we tend to do i don't think we can tell the difference. but the porsche 911 turbos and the mclaren f1's do come with crossed drilled rotors, so i can't say that they aren't worthy of racing.

http://www.dba.com.au/home.htm do a set of x-drilled AND slotted rotors for the Primera/G20. Basically both types combat out-gassing of pads (when the resin vaporises under heat). - a film of gas gets trapped between the pad and the rotor.
