Red face Monte Carlo Transmission Problems

I recently bought a 96 Monte Carlo. Service code P1870 (Transmission Component Slipping) kept coming on when I would drive it in overdrive. I tried driving it in drive for a couple of weeks, but now it feels like the transmission is about to go. It looses power while driving among other things. Now service codes P101 (Mass Air Flow Sensor Performance), P131 (Heated Oxygen Sensor Circuit Low Voltage Bank Sensor) and P300 (Engine Misfire) come on. Could these be caused by the original transmission problem? I have a feeling that fixing the transmission would fix all of the problems, but that the dealer is going to try to argue that this is a new problem that is not related to the original tranmission problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Monte Carlo Transmission Problems

If you cleaned the mass airflow sensor and inspected/replaced the O2 sensor and it's wiring, your engine would probably perform better. As far as the transmission, it sounds like either a bad forward band, 2nd or 4th clutch, or maybe a bad torque converter.

This sounds like the typical valve body problem(s). Worn out TCC apply valve, TCC regualtor valve. If left to long, your transmission will tear itself apart...sounds like what is going on here.
