truck drifting

http://media.putfile.com/drifting47

i was browsing through putfile an decided to look for drifting an found this. i was amazed the guy could do this, that truck i think weighs about 4-5 tons possibly a bit more, but i was more surprised at how the thing really does drift, i know they have massive amounts of torque (this one may be equipped with MANs V10 diesel) but the ambolute top speed of trucks like this is 70mph, so no high speed stuff here. still amazing to watch.

Bandag tires here in the US built a 1/4 mile truck that trapped around 110mph, so its possible to drift one, but its not something I would want to do as they are waaaaaay too easy tip over.

Awesome. I thought you meant truck not TRUCK. The guy is a pretty good driver. I think I would be scared shitless to do that in a truck like that. Good vid.

Re: truck drifting

actually, they'll only roll-over easily with a fully loaded trailer. the engine an drive trail is all at a fairly low level. the cab itself weighs little in comparasin. yea, i've seen the bandag one, pretty sweet. but i've never seen drifiting like that before. a company called joint venture built a 220mph truck.

hardly any of the truck's weight is above the top of the tyres, almost all of the engine sits lower than the level of the top of the tyres, so does the transmission and all the drivetrain. also it has a very wide track.
