ok car guys this is a tough one

well my 86' crx dx locked up on me so i said nnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooo and the next day i picked it up well only the cam locked up the engine turns freely with the rockers loose and all valves shut and no timing belt. well the injecter nozzle had become pluged for the oil inlet in my head. which cause the problem so i went to a junkyard and got another head for it and put it on now that i got it all put back together it wouldn't idle (it would die) and had no power so i took the carb apart and cleaned it and put it back together but now it idles at 2000 rpms and has power but not what it should i'd say 1/2 of what it did have i just need some pointers i can rip a small block ford or chevy apart in my sleep but i've never even worked on a honda till now
don't let me down guys your all i got

Re: ok car guys this is a tough one

You put the little oil jet back in right?

Anyway, I'd start by checking for vacuum leaks.

I know what you mean about Chevy motors, Sometimes I work on my '65 Impala with my eyes closed, simply because I've built so many Chevy motors that I don't even need to look at what I'm doing anymore (and it keeps the dirt from falling in my eyes when I'm under the car).

Honda motors are actually easier than V8s, you just need to familiarize yourself with the engineering behind them. The principals are exactly the same, but I pitty the fool that attempts a carb rebuild on a USDM model!

yeah my first dx did that and my dad rebuilt the carb (which is a mother) and then it idles fine after messing with some vaccum hoses. but id check vaccum hoses and if that doesn't work maybe try a carb "cleaning" or rebuild but a rebuild cost me like almost 300.00 heck the bottom gaskets alone are 150. but good luck with that i know how its like.

yeah those carbs are a but i am haven the same prob with my 85 rex it wont idle and it's all due to a vacuum leak and there is about a million vacuum lines to deal with.
