Re: Ford Engines
At one time it was going into what was to become the Mustang. It was mid-engined. A Mustang concept in the early sixties

Re: Ford Engines
Here is a quote from a Mustang book I Have:
" The original Mustang was preceded by several prototypes, among them the Mustang I. It bowed in 1962 as a two seater on a 90 inch wheelbase. Mounted amidships in its tubular frame and driveing the rear wheels was a 1927 cc V-4 that made 90 bhp at 6500 rpm. The powertrain was from a still born Ford sub-compact that would have used a front engine, front drive layout" |

Re: Ford Engines
Can you imagine what the sports cars would be like today if Ford would have used that design.
There would probably be no Comaro (I know that they don't make them anymore), The Chevy performance car would actually be simular to the Ferio. We'd most likely be driving small little turbo charged 4 and 6 bangers. What would the Japanese do, make turbo Lawn mower motors and have them put out 300hp in cars? That would be weird! |
