Re: How to put on lowering springs?

I would think that the process would be the same as changing your shocks but instead, you'll be switching off your springs instead. Stealth316: http://www.stealth316.com/2-shockremoval.htm But since we have NAs, I don't know how different the process would be.... Musashi said he'd take pictures of his and post when I'm ready to tear mine apart but maybe he'd do it sooner if you're ready.

Sweet, let me know how complicated it is, time frame, and whatever else that would be helpful when I do it. Thanks!

if there's a checker auto parts store near you, you can rent a spring compressor and all sorts of specialty tools in case you dont want to spring for your own tools

Yeah it's not all that hard...dangerous if you don't know what you're doing because i've seen a spring destroy someone's face when it slipped...but get the strut out, compress the spring, take off the top nut, slowly release the spring and pull it off the strut, put in new spring, compress it, make sure it's in the right position, put the nut back on the top, and slowly release the spring, put the strut back on the car. Just make sure you never take off that top middle nut without the spring being compressed...with some cars there's not a lot of pressure on the spring and it won't matter...but most there's a lot of pressure and it will destroy your face or anything else in it's way if you do lol.

Re: How to put on lowering springs?

sounds pretty simple. i actually found some pics a guy had on his website last night. the only thing is not gettin it aligned back on the mark once everything is put back on... so all i need is spring compressors? i saw this other tool that pulls the strut off the bushing it pops onto im assuming.

find yourself an automotive discount store that rents out tools and rent the spring compressors.
if you have an air compressor and an air gun then your in great shape, if not then you might want to borrow one. If you dont know anyone who has one then you will need a spare car to use for a few days cause your in for a long process here.
the site Slade posted is fine. suspension is suspension, very little changes from one car to another.

Re: How to put on lowering springs?

You shouldn't need a special tool to get the strut off the car if that's what you mean by tool for a bushing. Just take off the 2 bolts at the knuckle + any brake lines mounted to the strut and the three nuts on top in the engine bay and it should come right out.

Autozone rents out a spring compressor if there's one near you...if you rent from them you get all your money back including tax when you return the tool. I've never used theirs, I haven't heard good things to be honest, but that's what i'm going to use when I do mine.
