L82

What is the L82 "designation" used to describe, and how does it differ from a L88 or L42 etc.???

L82 was a specific 350 engine designation. It differs from L88 and L42 by the configuration of the engine itself.

So what do the different engine designations accomplish? A difference in HP, fuel efficiency, or what?
