six speed
is there a way you can drope the vr4 six speed in to a sl and with makin it awd. like can't i just not hook up the rear axle. reason for asking is i won't to put the twin turbo motor with the six speed into an sl but leave it front wheel drive just want to know can it be down. i mean i've heard of people welding the rearaxle and making it fwd.

Re: six speed
I b/l there's a kit you can put on the VCU that will solve that problem, but yes, you can drop the VR4 transmission into an FWD with a non-turbo motor... the biggest issue you will want to be careful of, is the transmission years... the 91-93's have 21 spline (I b/l) shafts, while the 94-99 have 25 spline shafts... you can always get the other transmissios shafts... but it'd be a pain in the butt to have everything pulled apart and realize you've got a problem

Re: six speed
Yes, you will need to weld the VCU or center plaentary gears for it to work. You will also need the AWD axles.

Re: six speed
I'm sorry, I wasn't aware that the AWD and FWD axles were different...

Re: six speed
Well techinically the 93+ FWD axles are the same as the 91-99 AWD axles, but the intermediate shafts are different lengths, and the intermediate shafts are connected to the axles.
