Re: Motor/Transmission mounts

This sounds a bit suspicious to me. Usually it takes many years and miles to wear out thses mounts.

Re: Motor/Transmission mounts

I have two Cadillac Deviles. Both are at 190k. I just replaced the 4 motor mounts on the '90 at my work. The '89 needs them too, but not as bad as the '90 did. And these on a Caddy are NO fun to work on.
It is about a 5-6 hour job, and my work charges over $600, and were're not even dealership. I doubt you need yours replaced. If it's not "clunking" hard when you take off fast from a standstill, you are probably OK. If your tranny does seem to be shifting hard into any gears, then maybe they are bad. But keep in mind "bad" is a relative term. If you do have them replaced make sure you ask them for the old mounts. This is one of those repairs that are easy for a dishonest mechanic/dealership to lie about.
