1997 SC1 fuse diagram? electrical prob :(

Hi, I searched several pages of the forum and didn't really find something to match my problem.

A couple days back someone who borrowed my car left the lights on and I thought the battery drained, it wouldn't start after this. It wouldn't jump off another car, I called AAA and they brought in The Big Truck, it wouldn't jump off that either, but the AAA guy said the battery was no longer dead.

The headlights, power windows, interior fan/AC, horn, interior light, dash lights all work, the power locks work from the inside to lock the car. The car won't turn over and the keyless entry doesn't work, nor does the radio, at all; Previously after replacing a battery I went through the whole radio locked ordeal and at that time I saw the LCD screen on the radio said "LOC".. presently, the LCD screen for the radio is completely blank, I can only conclude there's no power at all going to it.

I'm stumped, I can only think that it's a fuse maybe, nothing else jives.

The AAA guy also said that it would be a clutch safety maybe, but how would that have anything to do with the radio and the keyless entry?

Could use some help if someone could point me in the right direction thank you

Would there be a way to know if it's burned out just by looking at it?

if it is good you will see a solid s-shaped wire inside the fuse. if the fuse has blown, a part or all of that S-shape will be gone. also a blown fuse will sometimes leave a little smoke on the fuse.

I'm having the same problem with my 97 SL2. Yesterday driving to work I hit my radio console to see if it would work (smart eh!) since my 2 year old disabled it by using the casette slot as a piggy bank.

Anyway, the service light came on. Then when I arrived at work the keyless entry wasn't working. All electrical seems to work except the ignition. When I turn the key, there is no sound, no clicking, no starter activity. I checked the car battery voltage with a multimeter and it read 12.6 V. I replaced the battery in the keyless entry unit, but still nothing. Also, all fuses appear to be good.

I'm thinking it might have something to do with the keyless entry/alarm receiver. Not sure where this is located. Anyone have info (e.g. schematics, etc) for the alarm system? Any info or suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes mine turned out to be the chime fuse as well. I had checked the fuses under the hood, but not the passenger side panel. Thanks for the info.

I'm pretty sure I killed my chime, considering the fact that I leave the lights on without realizing it. My car horn randomly went off one day because of a short in the steering column. I got a good lesson in which fuses did what that day as I frantically searched for the right one to disable the horn before ppl got mad. In short, I'm thinkin that a Saturn would never win an award for best electrical.
