Air suspension stuck in "high" position ?
Hello professionals
I bought Lincoln Conti Signature 1991. Had to change the transmission after a month. :-(( When the mechanic put the car on the ground again the front of the car (suspension ?) was in unusually high position, higher than the regular "inflated" position I had before. He said he performed all repairs with the battery taken off, so the air suspension switch in the trunk, as well as all air suspension controls were disabled.. I reset the battery - did not help. When I start the engine the compressor works for 20-40 sec as usual, but the front suspension is still high at max. After 3-4 of driving the "ride control" signal appears. What to do ? Please help !! Is it safe to drive safely ? Thanks. |

I would have the ride height sensors checked to see if they are adjusted correctly. If you mechanic happened to hit them while he was doing some other repairs they could have been moved out of allignment. If that is not the case then the vent solenoid in the compressor would be the next usual suspect. If the vent solenoid locks up the car can't vent air out of the bags causing the car to be raised unussually high. If that is the problem you will need to replace the compressor and dryer.
