Re: I need a topic for my car related science fair project

My biology teacher was telling me something the other day that seemed kind of cool. He told me that back in his 20's, a man that worked at the local parts house wanted his car to get better gas milage. He knew that fuel atomization was one of the keys to fuel economy. The smaller the size of the fuel dropplets in the cylinder, the more efficient the burn would be. He found a metal head gasket for his car.(I want to say our teacher said he had a pacer). He found a fine metal mesh and welded it to the head gasket. According to our teacher, this gave it a repectable bump in gas mileage. It might be cool to try to find an old 4 banger with a carb in a junkyard and try this out. Just a thought
