need to sell my alero....
Hi. This probably isn't appropriate to list a car for sale here, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
I have a 1999 Olds Alero. It is white with four doors. Power everything, including a sunroof. Had the intake manifold gasket, water pump, thermostat, and alternator replaced in the last 6 months so those are in good shape. It has a little under 65000k miles on it. I'm selling it for the amount to pay off my loan which is probably a bit high. My loan is about 7000-7500. I really like this car but in all honesty I don't feel safe in it after it has overheated even though the problem has been fixed, and after it died on me in traffic, even though the alternator was replaced. I live in Ohio. If anyone is interested in taking it off my hands please let me know. Sorry for posting this here. Last edited by kraziqtashes; 10-18-2005 at 07:06 PM. |

Re: need to sell my alero....
Sorry to hear your alero is giving you problems...I have the most luck on ebay selling cars, its about $40 to list. If you put it on, i'd recomend setting a Reserve at the lowest price u want to get for it, and then start the bidding at $1. That way you can get a good idea what folks browsing ebay are willing to pay. Not to scare you, but it could be as low as half of what your lease is

Re: need to sell my alero....
Hey man...sorry to hear about your luck with your Alero. I don't mean to burst your bubble, but I'm selling my 2002 Alero GL1 V6 four door for $7,250, which is the amount to pay off my loan, and I'm having trouble. It only has 53K miles on it and is in GREAT shape, but because GM killed Oldsmobile, the resale on these bad boys has taken a nose dive. I saw a white four door V6 2004 with about 20K miles on a lot the other day for sale for only $9500. I guess people are asking, "why spend $7500 on a 4 year old car with 50K miles, when I can get a less-than-2-year old car with only 20K miles on it for $2K more..."
Good luck with selling yours. To be honest, I think these are great cars. Of course, they have their issues, but it seems that you've taken care of most of the issues Alero owners run into. If I could afford to keep mine, I would definately be keeping it until the wheels fall off. Unfortunately though, I'm a poor, struggling college student and need to get rid of it. Jeremy |
