first gen intake manifold

has anyone thought about or have taken the 90 degree bend out of thier intake manifold? you know the part right after where the throttle body bolts up.

I haven't personally thought about it, but I have seen it done. Some people cut off the bend and then weld the TB directly on. Pretty neat!

If you have the means, then by all means. It does eliminate the 90° bend which is better for airflow.

Re: first gen intake manifold

I have seen adapters to put 1st gen TB on 2nd Gen Sohc manifold. I would think that would take less effort and you wouldn't have to break anything to do it.

Where and what if you have a DOHC intake manifold? Why would you downgrade?

Re: first gen intake manifold

I didn't see in the post if you have Sohc or Dohc.
Cutting your manifold up and welding it (dohc) or cement/gluing it (sohc) sounds like a risk of it not working when you are done (broken) to me.
