Odometer Messed Up on 2000 Sunfire

Well I have have this odometer problem for over a year now with my 2000 Sunfire. I still have not had it fixed. The digital display is all out of whack. Partial numbers, numbers disappear, they kinda just phase. Anybody else have had this problem? I'm not sure of the cost to have this fixed nor I don't know what is exactly the cause of this odd behavior. Please help...

David

If the display is bad like you state then you will need to replace it. There is probably a problem with the circuit board. If the speedometer is irratic then change the vehicle speed sensor located on the transmission.

The speedometer is fine, it's just the odometer that is messed up. It still keeps track of your miles but the digital display is what is irratic.

Your best bet is to likely replace the display and the board that controls it. If you have a background in electronics, You might be able to narrow the problem down even more and save yourself some money.

Re: Odometer Messed Up on 2000 Sunfire

Got the same problem with mine. I don't let it worry me. this way I am forced to stay on top of servicing the car by actually loking at the oil and seeing if it is dirty/cruddy etc. Actually look at the tires and check them for wear....etc.
