yet another camber question

i took my lowered civic to the sears autocenter in hopes of getting an alignment due to tire wear. The guy told me that my camber was way off and that an alignment wouldnt fix the tire wear issue. i frequent the board alot so i figured that i would need a camber kit. i mentioned this to him and he said for my model i should get adjustable ball joints. Which one should it be a camber kit or the ball joints?

I think what he meant is that the alignment wouldn't fix the tire wear until you get a camber kit of some sort. The adjustable ball joints are nice but there is another option that relocates the upper control arm on eccentrics so you can adjust the front of and rear of the control arm independantly. and speaking as an alignment tech i would far rather adjust one with that style then the ball joint style, there is more flexability. just my 2 cents.

Re: yet another camber question

i cant tell u xactly how much i lowered it since my struts were saggin b4 i went coilover. but its lowered just above the rubber of the tires. he didnt put the toe in spec, said he wouldnt touch it since the camber was so bad. and by the looks of the tire i changed my camber must be really bad.

Re: Re: yet another camber question

Struts don't regulate height even when they are worn, it's all in the springs. I agree with Kris, espeically since it sounds like it's lower than 1.75".

Lowering a car on bad struts isn't a good idea. You should upgrade the struts & have camber kits installed, IMO.

Re: yet another camber question

im not running on stock struts, i swapped everything out, for some performance struts and a coilover spring set up. they were sagging b4 and my ride was rough which led me to just swap everything out.
