want to stop a thief dead in his tracks???

i dont know for sure that this would work but im doing it. if you have an alorm or get an alarm dont let people know you have it use the silent arm button and dont put the stickers on hide the blinking lead then when the theif comes to brake in thinkin whoa peice of cake they will be surprised by the alarm that is now blaring in their ear. give me some feed back on this one

Re: want to stop a thief dead in his tracks???

Its a good thought, but remember the blinking LED is what scares off most "wanna be" theifs... because then they know you have an alarm. If you want to keep the "bad boys" away you should think about a window sticker if you arent going to use the LED ~ because they pay MUCH more attention to your car and will notice it...

Also, theifs ALWAYS "test" cars ... to see if it has an alarm... walk upto it and give it a good bump to see if your alarm chirps ~ so they will know LED or not. The only person that would stop was someone that sees it and thinks they are gonna get easy pickings...

The thing is everyone knows an alarm doesn't really mean much at all. How many times you heard an alarm go off and din't look to even see where it was comming from? And how many people would really try and stop a possibly armed theif? If a cop was right around the corner it might be a good thing but short of that an alarm just lets you know you just got ripped off.

Yeah but an alarm always makes a thief think twice ... Thieves can aways take what they want if they want it bad enough so between a car that makes no noise or a car that will have it's alarm blaring, they'd go for the quiet car ... You NEED something that warns a thief that this car will fight back with noise!!

I would much rather put the stickers and tell everyone then surprise a thief AFTER he broke my window out.

also putting stickers on your car tells them what you have. then they would know what to look for if they broke in your car.

on my window it says "A Big Black Guy Named Ben- Alarm installed"

I think a "Igo4bmx fart smell alarm installed" would be more effective ~ maybe we can work out a partnership

alarms do serve a purpose, they keep ppl awake at night when some asshole drives by with his music up too loud, or someone closes a door to close to your car, or (in the case of my neighbors) a feather lands on it.

put the stickers on, leave the led flashing (get a fukcing strobe light if you need it) and scare *potential* theives away. just turn the damn sensitity down so it doesnt go off until they try to open the door.

keep in mind, if a real thief wants something, theyre going to get it.

LMAO:hehe::hehe::hehe: that's some funny stuff man!

an alarm is a great preventative measure to make sure your stuff doesn't get stolen. It's just that preventative. Like someone said sure it will chase off the wanna be thieves but if they want it bad enough they're just gonna take it.

I've had 2 different alarms in my car, 1 cheap one called a "Bulldog" for a year until my stereo and subs got ripped off, and then I dropped a little more cash for a mid-range viper about 6 months ago. 2 weeks ago my stereo got ripped off again, and my car is in the shop for like 4 weeks getting the entire dash replaced because some guy decided he was going to crow-bar the entire thing apart to get to my head unit. I've been searching for alternatives, because car alarms DO go off down here like every 10 minutes and of course no one cares. I considered the Aladdin but it just looks so silly, so I started asking around and I talked to some guys at a shop who showed me this alarm called "CompuStar" from a company called "FirstTech." Apparently it's comparably priced for a Viper/Sidewinder/Clifford, but it has a 2 way pager system like the Aladdin, with a longer pager range. It also uses some kind of new spread-spectrum technology that was mainly in military use up until recently. They claimed it was the only alarm on the market to use spread spectrum. My only problem has been finding a dealer for them, but I only checked around briefly. I've decided that regular alarms just aren't good enough, so I'm gonna get this pager setup and be my own security team for my car. I know thieves will often jump into a car and just start pulling wires or completely disregard an alarm, since no one cares, but I doubt many of them expect someone to come running down the street with a kevlar vest and a shotgun. It sounds extreme but I'm tired of having my stuff stolen. If anyone knows of a CompuStar dealer, please let me know.

So true ... so true ...
If they want your stuff they'll get your stuff ...
If they want you dead they'll have you dead ...
