I'm on my lunch break right now sorry I don't have the ime to search. A while back i was talking to guy about his 95 civic hatchback...I was asking him how it handeled and he said pretty good for a hatch, then he lead on to tell me that if you have a engine with a lot of power and want an all around good daily driver and weekend warrior, he advised me to not get a hatchback. He said the handleing would be better in a coupe or four door. I was just curious about this. I mean if you were building a track, such as one for the SCCA...would be better to use the hatch chassis or the coupe chassis. Also he went on to tell me that hatch backs are being played out way too much. But this guy is driving one so WTF. I'd appreciate any info on this particualr subject...thanks. Off to work I go now...

If you do an engine swap without upgrading the Suspension, the car tends to handle a little strange. In our 1994 Civic Si Hatchback, we have an H22 swap, with stock Suspension... Wow, the car handles very strange, and it is difficult to steer at a dead stop. Granted, it has no power steering, but typically it's not that bad.

So if you're planning on doing a swap, always upgrade the Suspension as well, it compliments the cars over all performance much better.

h22 is one of the heaviest engines u can put in a civic so u cant really compare to a regular b or d series swap. handling mostly depends on how u build up ur suspension id say b/e same year and model civic both car will handle the sam bc the suspension geomtry is about the same.i think b/e a coupe and a hatchback weight is the main issue to worry about and mayb wheel base.
