94' G20 Won't Start

Guys . . . NEED some help here. I recently purchased a used 94 G20 (Auto) with approximately 100K miles on it and am now experincing starting problems. In the past, it started easily and idled around 700 RPM but will not start now. Prior to not starting the idle fluxuated for about 5 seconds and the engine went dead. This happened 2-4 times (before the car went deadd) and now the car will not start at all.

The starter works fine. I thought it may be a clogged fuel filter (which I replaced) but the problem is still there. I do not hear the fuel pump when I trun the ignition "on" so this leads me to belive (i) the fuel pump is dead or (ii) the fuel pump relay (where is it located anyway?) is dead. Also, when I had the fuel filter off, I turned the ignition "on" and did not see any pressure.

ANY suggestions would help.

THANKS

Have you checked the fuel pump fuse?

could also be the intake part of the car, i know if i dont have a filter on my intake the car WONT start. it will turn over but will not start. if it does start the idle will flux like 3 or 4 times and die. check your vac lines.

95flG20,

I checked the vac lines and the seem fine. Should I pay special attention to a particular line? Also, the car doesn't even flutuate, it just simply will not start.

The fuel pump relay should be in a relay box, mounted on the right side wheel well, inside the engine bay.

Don't be surprised if it's a bad fuel pump, several people have needed to replace them.

T4,

The first thing I purchased was a new fuel pump but have not installed it. I was hoping it may be the relay and save myself some time from going under the G20 and remove the gas tank. I think my next step is to change out the relay and see what happens. I figure the relay box was on the right hand corner under the hood but there was no listing indicating which relay was for the fuel pump. Although I saw one that reads "ASCD" or something to that affect. Could this be the fuel pump relay?

Thanks

Sorry can't help you with the list thing, I have the same problem - the diagram on the top is partly worn off on my car. I'm sure someone here can tell you which relay is which

yea sounds like it its more than likely the fuel pump or the relay. anyone think it may be the injectors, or perhaps a bad ingintion and parts?

Do you think it may be the "automatic fuel cut-off switch". I'm thinking some idiot hit the rear of my car (just enough to reset the switch but not damage the bumper, excluding minor scratches). I am hoping that may also be one of the problems that can be easily remedied.

Also, anyone know where I can purchase a service repair or shop repair manual for a 1994 G20?

Thanks
