'94 & '95 Impreza, Any known Chronic problems ?

I am considering buying one of those years. Does anyone know of any chronic problems with them that I should be aware of so that I won't be fixing the same thing over & over? What about the engine size choices? Which size is more reliable and which one more trouble prone?
I am far more concerned with reliability than performance.
I know nothing about fixing cars and I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. (Is there another Subaru model between '94 & '99 that may be more reliable?)
