Help with A new radio

Hi i am installing a new cd player in my car and i am having problems with it. I have a 96 Z34. When i hook all the wires up nothing happens but whne i wire both the constant 12v (orange wire) and the switched 12v (yellow wire) together with the constant and switched wires from my cd player it works fine. But when i shut the car off and turn it back off it doesnt save my memory at all and acts like i just installed it. Can anyone help me

First of all you should have bought a less than $10 wiring harness adapter for your vehicle. Secondly, the orange wire needs power all of the time, to retain it's memory.
