Winter Tires

I have a '95 Geo Metro 4 door with 13in. rims. I need new tires and with winter comming up I want some that grip well in the snow. I don't want to spend an arm and a leg but I want something decent. I visited tirerack but it's a little overwhelming for me. Any suggestions for a good 13in tire for our Minnesota winters? I drive 160 miles a day to work, 140 miles are on the freeway, if that matters.
