Lightbulb has this been done befor

if this has been talked about alot im sorry . but i looked in past threads and didnt see anything so here it go's.

can you put the srt4 motor in th sxt or rt stratus because i saw that the sxt has a 2.4l and the srt4 also has the 2.4 but i dont know if its the same. because the 2g eclipse has two 2.0l the 420a and the 4g63 being the turbo one but anyway they share just about nothing.

now i do ask that no one says yes it can be done. because we all know that anything can be done . what im asking is how much money will be spent to do it . and is it even practical . thank you for you help and time ..

and to anyone that has a 2 door i think you have one of the best looking cars on the street . and why i dont see more of them i dont know ...

I dunnmo about the engines in the stratus but I would like to correct you on the DSM Eclipse engines (Being a mitsu man myself). The 4G63 has 4 different engines. You have 2 6 bolt models one turbo and one n/a and the 7 bolt again one turbo one n/a. The 420A was a completley different block and I believe it also had a turbo and an n/a model. Just wanted to clear that much up here

Re: has this been done befor

Sanguinius thank you, but my reason for sayin that was only to show that there can be two motors that are the same size out at the same time buy the same car comp. and have nothing a like but in some ways you help me prove that so thanks. but what i want to know is the srt4 swap . oh and the only time the 420a was turbo was on a acr neon se but that was a dealer thing. and from what i know there was only 2 or 3 sold . but thats ok you were kinda right, and i said in the 2g eclipse and the 6 bolt wasnt sold then only the 7 bolt (crankwalk) but your the dsm man and im sure you knew all this and i didnt need to say any of this ...

Re: has this been done befor

Yeah I wasn't going into THAT much detail. I think the easiest way to figure out if it'll work for you is to look at the engine you want to swap in and look at where the timing belt is (Driver's or passenger's side?) and then look at your current engine and if the timing belt is on the same side there's a good posibility that it'll swap in fairly easy. But remember you also have to do the wiring harness and ECU when you swap and possibly the trans as well due to different bolt patterns. (And yes I know the 6 bolt was only first gen I have a first gen and that 7 bolt was 2nd gen and had a known crankwalk problem and also know that there weren't but a few turbo 420A's but you knew the point I was driving home there.).

Hhhmm... interesting. Though now a REAL trick would be dropping a big block in a stratus.... Something like a 383 or something..... lol THAT would be HOT.
