1993 Buick Regal 3.1L with 178000 M.
Started the car last month and heard a possible back fire. Diagnostic shows a code 33 map sensor. Replaced the map sensor, reconnected vaccume lines to the MAF, changed plugs, wires and replaced pcv filter. I still have a code 33 after disconnecting the battery, and the exhaust is getting more noisy, and the cars idling at arount 2200. will speed up to 30-40mph w/out any acceleration. While upon braking to a stop the idle will jump down to almost a stall. All this happened when I started the car and it blew the vaccume lines out of mass air flow(MAF). Any suggestions or similar experience would be appreciated. |

Re: 3.1L v6 code 33 fast idle. any suggestions?
What vacuum lines to the maf?, should be full vacuum on map. maf is electrical connection only. Make sure you didn't blow the pcv valve out also, this will happen with a back fire.

Re: 3.1L v6 code 33 fast idle. any suggestions?
Check for large vacuum leaks first. Then there should not
be maf if you have a map. Also your IAC could be stuck open all the time. Check for lincage binding. Check for running rich or exesive fuel pump output You could somehow messed up the map. The map sensor is new or used? Its either too much air going in -IAC or a giant vacuum leak or bad map. Also check your TPS sensor |

Re: Re: 3.1L v6 code 33 fast idle. any suggestions?
Correction The vacuum lines blew out of the throttle body.
I did put in a used map sensor. I have been unable to find a vacuum leak. Also, Checked the IAC Valve, but not sure what to look for, there is very little movement with the IAC valve pintle. Thanks, I'll check your suggestions out. |
