Actually, the factory wiring is more than adequate, and is by far more foolproof than additional wiring. The wiring codes for the speakers is as follows:

LF+ tan
LF- gray
RF+ lt green
RF- dark green
LR+ brown
LR- yellow
RR+ dk blue
RR- lt blue

Keep in mind that on many GM vehicles, such as our Blazers, there is often a "pigtail" in the door before the speaker. In this case, the speaker wires in both doors may be brown/yellow like the LR speakers. Brown will be positive and yellow will be negative.

I do car audio for a living, and unless something is wrong with the factory wiring (which is VERY rare) or the application demands it, we do not run additional speaker wires. It is both extremely labor-intensive and, 99% of the time, entirely unnecessary.

JC327, Since you work in the car audio bussiness I was just wondering. Is it better to stick with same brand name on all your stereo equipment? In my experience, I've noticed that Pioneer speakers work best with a Pioneer deck and so forth. Is it just me or it doesn't matter who make what?

I remember Jensen. It was the ONE to have in the early 80's . I would not consider it now . Rob

I remember also. I would not buy and of there products. I actually threw away there free speakers that were given to me when I bought my deck before this one. I will only use high end brand name. Pioneer, Panasonic, Kenwood. Trust me, in the electronics world you get what you pay for. And remember people, when you go shopping for a new deck make sure to ask the sales person to shut off the external amp so you can really hear how it sounds through the speakers powered only by the deck. If the sales person looks at you funny like they have no clue what you just said, leave! Find another retailer. If you were to shop online I have always liked Crutchfield. Good luck

It really doesn't matter, as long as everything is matched up properly and far as power and impedence (ohms), the brands do not need to match. It's best, in my opinion, to "cherry pick" and find the combination you like - some things definitely sound better than others, and some combos work better than others, etc. What it all comes down to is what sounds the best to you.

One thing to remember when matching things up - always go by RMS power rating ONLY and not "max" or "peak" power. RMS is a true, tested rating, while "peak" or "max" is an untested and more often than not completely made-up number. The most reputable upper-end brands don't even have a peak power listing on thier products and there are measures being taken to have those numbers removed from all products.
