No argument when it comes to the engine, the 951 engine is a world apart from the 944 NA 2.5 liter. I've seen 550hp out of the 968(generation after 944) 3.0 with the only internal changes being a set of custom connection rods, slightly shorter for lower compression, stock pistons. The 944 engine was largely unchanged from it's original form until the S and S2 which were the DOHC and 3.0 DOHC engines respectively, and it was never designed to make massive power.

I question how much this guy is up on Porsche's factory racing efforts, at least historically. Porsche went racing at Lemans with that exact suspension, with 210-380hp turbocharged 924's, running on slicks no less. You know what they did? They seam welded and added gussets where needed, and they worked just fine, no bent arms or cracked welds. Alloy trailing arms are a big advantage, no argument there. Fortunately, the entire rear end can be changed out, and if you're serious about a track car this should be a must anyways. If you're careful about your measurements, you can make your own front control arms, and a new rear cross member to delete the torsion bar assembly and run coilovers. You should do this if you get a 951 even, those alloy front control arms can bend easily once you get past 1.0 G.

Yeah, I can understand that. The stock 944 lump doesn't have much potential, even when supercharged or turbocharged. The ABS can be disabled, I am pretty sure, and the stock LSD and M030 option are VERY desireable for a track car. The M030 suspension and brakes are trackworthy out of the box, just get some good pads and a couple of camber plates.
