Question 94 park avenue ultra no power 3000rpm

i have a 94 PA 156,000 when floor it it hesitates and jerks. Super charger was rebuilt 4,000 miles ago, new air filter, spark plugs replaced same time as supercharger, plug wires replaced with NAPA high preformace wires about 1,500 miles ago. it starts fine, runs great in low speeds. i have checked all of the vacume lines, and put fuel injector cleaner in with last tank of gas and still no improvment any ideas

Re: 94 park avenue ultra no power 3000rpm

Could be a fuel pressure or O2 issue, but, when you say "floor it" you mean all the way? If that's the case, then it's normal, that means you've hit the rev. limit of the ening and the ignition starts getting shut off unitl it's down to acceptable rate of engine speed.

Aside from that is the Check Engine Light on?

Question Re: 94 park avenue ultra no power 3000rpm

there is no check engine light on. when i say floor it its like when i go to pass someone and give it gas it chokes up. i use to be able to do it without a problem but with in the last week it started to act up. it will start to choke up around 3000 rpm drop to 1500 them bounce up to 4000 range drop down again and just keeps doing this till i let off of the gas.

Sounds like a fuel pressure issue. If it hasn't been changed in a while I'd say replace the filter and pressure regulator. A pressure test would confirm, but be sure to simulate the operating condition when doing the test.

Thumbs down Re: Re: 94 park avenue ultra no power 3000rpm

I replaced Fuel Filter it runs a little better. I can now put it in Neutral and it will get higher RPM's with no hesitation. but when I put in in gear it still does the same thing just in higher RPM's it will go to about 4000-4500 RPM's then it drops down to about 2500-3000. This is about to drive me NUTS!!

Somewhere in there is the rev limiter. I think it engages somewhere from 4500-5000 rpm. It cuts the engine out for a second, which would explain it dropping back to about 2000 rpm. If this is the case, it's supposed to do that.

I am having the same problem with my 95 PA Ultra; it occurred once last week but twice today. First time today, I was on the ramp, accelerating to get on the interstate & the second time, I was driving on the interstate at about 75-80 mph. I did not notice the RMP gauge, but the "Change Oil Soon" light came on just before the car started to stutter and cut off, and it remains on until I restart the car. The "Change Oil Soon" light came on earlier this week & I noticed the car seemed to be hesitant in accelerating at the time. Being about 500 miles away from the "every 3,000 miles" oil change, I planned to take care of that this weekend, but it doesn't make sense to me that a car would just "die" going 75 mph because it needed an oil change.
This car is actually my company car and I work for a VERY uptight man. I need to have all the information/answers to this problem before I have to tell him about it on Monday. Help!!

PA problems at 3000 rpm

I had more or less the same problems as you describe. I have changed the ignition box since then it runs fine.
Good luck, Peter

Re: Re: 94 park avenue ultra no power 3000rpm

Problem started again. A few months ago my car overheated oil pressure dropped and i had to get towed home. Now when im driving everything works great, acceleration is great. When the car gets about 195-198 it losses all passing power. I dont even have enough power to hit 65
by the time i get to the bottom of the ramp. I was told possibly Air intake sensor but for $130 i dont want to change it and not have it be it. (im a starving college kid) any hints on how to test it, or any other ideas on what it could be.
