Thumbs down Ltd Edition Drivng Ambition

I know some of you were interested in getting a copy of the 10 Year version with DVD

It retails at £825 + shipping. Or you can collect from the McLaren Technology Centre in person and get a tour! Exclusive it may be, and a tour would be nice, but to me at least thats just a rip off. And to make it worse theres only going to be 59 copies!

I would guess the only people that will buy this already own an F1.

Re: Ltd Edition Drivng Ambition

At 59 copies and an included tour, I don't think it's a rip off from the exclusivity and collectibility viewpoint, but yes, it's an expensive item. Definitely not something for the schoolboy/hobbyist. Unless they're rich, of course.

The ordinary edition is much cheaper and readily available, so what's the problem? I just wish there was an "ordinary" version of the real F1 available for $150,000 (80,000GBP).

Man, I wonder what's on that DVD, probably some incredible stuff. Someone who gets a copy should post it on the internet or burn copies and sell them...illegally.

I agree. I believe 1 or 2 people on here have the original. So maybe they could be kind enough to get it hosted somewhere.

In fairness if McLaren started to resell the DVD. I'd buy it. But I cant see it to be honest.

No.

Thats the VHS video that was released in the late nineties. It occasionally turns up on eBay but its very very rare. So if you chance upon one somewhere buy it instantly

Re: Ltd Edition Drivng Ambition

Well, then, in that case I don't think this book is such a good buy. You are getting something with maybe 50% extra over the regular book. Plus another 50% in quality. So that makes it worth double. Make it three times because it's more rare and collectible. That puts you at 200 USD. The DVD...another 100. So 300 USD. It costs over 1500!

That's 1200 bucks for a factory tour which you can get for free through a lot of channels...

Anyone have a different view? I would love to hear it.

Gordon told tvrfreak and I that based on the costs of producing those limited versions of Driving Ambition, that McLaren was barely breaking even at the price they were selling them for.

I have a copy of Pursuit of Perfection on video signed by GM. What do you reckon it's worth?

Im not surprised to be honest. Most book publishers would advise against it Im sure. But McLaren is McLaren and presumably will put this down to "advertising" So won't view this in the same way as a regular company that needs to make a profit year on year.

I have seen copies of this sell for between $10 and $30 USD - it just depends on how many people are interested I guess. I'm not sure how much value Gordon's signature would add to the item. I'm sure if you put it on Ebay that someone will be interested.
