97 JGC Limited V-8 "check engine" light on
I just bought this SUV, it has one previous owner (older lady who had it serviced every 6 months) This SUV has been babied, to say the least. I was driving down the highway when I noticed that the "check engine" light was on, I had my dad check everything on the engine earlier that day, and everything was fine. I was hoping that the light would go off the next day, but it didn't. The truck still runs perfect, lots of power, not reving high, and sounds great. I read the owners manual and all it says is "take it in to your dealer" I can't afford that right now. My dad thinks that it might just be a sensor but if anyone knows anything about this or has had this happen to them could you please let me know! thank you soooo much!

Re: 97 JGC Limited V-8 "check engine" light on
Turn the key to the ON Position, then OFF, then ON, then OFF, then ON - leave it in the ON position this time.
The CHECK ENGINE LIGHT will begin to flash the codes, they will flash in double digit form with a SHORT pause between digits and a LONG pause between codes. example: flash pause flash flash - 1 pause 2 = 12 pause pause pause flash flash flash flash flash pause flash flash flash flash flash - 5 pause 5 = 55 Code 12 - Battery was disconnected within the last 50 ignition cycles. Code 55 - End of fault codes. On vehicle equipped with digital odometer the code will appear in the odometer (example: P0622) |
