69 Nova Wiper Issue
Hello Everyone,
Im having a issue with my wipers. First of all when the wiper switch is engaged my Gen Light is coming on. I thought that the Gen light was mainly for Altenator/battery issues. Also when the switch is on the wipers dont work. My Thoughts... I ran through the wiring using a testlight. Turning the car on, I test the wiring at the switch. The Wiring at the switch goes Black, Dark Blue ( I have power at both of this), and Light Blue ( it has no power). I believe that I should have power at all three of these, unless the switch is engaged. I then traced the wiring back the the fuse box and everything appears to be okay. The fuse isnt blown either. I then check the wiring at the wiper motor. I have power at the Yellow wire. I traced the wiring back to the fuse box plugs and everything is okay there as well. Finally, I disassembled the fuse box. Cleaned the terminals and reterminated the box. I double checked the fuse(25a, per specs) and reattempted the wipers with no progress. I still get the Gen Light and the wipers no-worky. Dose anyone have any thoughts? Should I turn my attention to the Gen light? Any Thoughts there? Thanks everyone, John D |

Re: 69 Nova Wiper Issue
Make sure that on your regulator (should be an external, to the left of your fan) make sure the plug is all the way in.

Re: 69 Nova Wiper Issue
another thing, if that checks out check the wiper motor it self to make sure it hasent gone bad, if it is bad when you turn it on it will draw a crap load of power trying to do nothing and turn the gen light on as if it had a dead short

Re: 69 Nova Wiper Issue
Are you getting power at the motor when the switch is on? There should be a plug right at the motor, check there. If there is power then try disconnecting the linkage to the motor. It may be binding and preventing the motor from turning. If you have power and it still won't run when disconnected you need a new motor. Let us know what you find.

Same type of problem
Hi all, I just wanted to add to the same type of problem. I have a 1972 Nova & my wipers won't work either. I have installed a new wiper motor and switch. I did some checking and I found that I have no power at the motor, switch or fuse at the fuse block. I don't have a clue at what to look at next. I was wondering if anyone might have an idea of what could be causing the problem. I'm not really good at doing electrical problems. Thanks for any help.
