Grinding Noise in 99 Sunfire
I have 1999 Sunfire and I just had the the brakes replaced last year (rotors, pads, the whole 9 yards). This morning I started to hear slight squeaking on the from brakes then all of a sudden loud grinding. What could that be? Have my brakes gone that bad that quickly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only way to tell what's going on is to take it apart for an inspection. Some auto repair shops provide free brake inspections. Call around and get yourself an appt.

^^^ Agree. is it on one side, or both? Take a tire off, and have a look at the pads. Make sure they are on the right direction. I put a pad on backwards once and it grinded the crap outta the rotor after a period of time (I think it was sooner than later). I doubt that is the case tho. Make sure everything is tight. Your calipers are tightened by 2 relatively large allen bolts on the engine side. Give those a turn and see what happens.

A bolt may have come loose or they did not clean and lube the caliper sliders very well and could have caused premature brake pad wear. Could be anything really.....have a look.
