Okay, I have another question. Do I use the compound and cut back and THEN attach the taillights, headlights, spoiler, etc? And when should I paint the sills black?

I say do all that after polishing. You want the window trim semi-gloss, so you don't want it polished.

After polishing, DO NOT use model cement to attach anything. It will melt the paint so fast, you won't even believe! Use white glue like Krystal Klear, or super glue, but be very careful with super glue, too, it's not much better...

So you're saying I should go ahead and attach the spoiler and then polish? What about the silver I want to paint behind the headlights. Should I not polish there b/c it will go through (that and I'm sure it's shiny enough) Here's the bottom line: Is this some kind of paste? If so, how do I apply it? With a new toothbrush or what? Thanks.

͔n*ł*B For those who know Japanese or Altavista.

Edit: I just realized that came out bad, so here is the translation of the above garbled Nihongo.
I am a fool.

Okay, I've finished spraying the windows and my masking worked excellently... except for one thing. The spray paint carried over and got stuck to the outside of the glass. :o However, it collected in such a manner that when placed in the correct setting, it looks just like tinting. Another one of my screwups turns out better than if I had done it on purpose.

Nearly ruined some decals for the license plate, but they were repaired. I have questions. One is what does the the below picture mean? The mesh shown is actual mesh with holes and whatnot. What should I glue it with? Superglue? I've never seen that symbol next to all of the mesh before. I also would like to know if I should cut it out exactly like the picture shows. The lower bit with showing the pattern is exactly the size of the mesh sheet. I really just want to confirm that.

i normally use superglue for this stuff, use it sparingly and be cautious with it - remember its mesh, with holes in! Which means u could get glue on your fingers which in turn means that it usually gets onto your newly painted bodywork!!! To check any sizes and fitting use the template to cut out test pieces in paper - trace the shapes onto the paper then cut out that way u wont end up wasting any mesh. U could also use those same templates to arrange a more econominal way to cut out your mesh so that u can save some for your spares box.

If you have any Kristal Klear, use that. It wont spoil the paint if any does run through onto the outside paint work as you can wash it off with water if it does.
It dries clear so you dont see it.

Well, I've been PM'ing Jay and I've made a lot of progress. I put on the mesh without major incident (thanks flyonthewall and Warren!). I also put on pretty much all the parts I could that I could polish and do other stuff with. I don't have the money for Tamiya Compound right now (1 week!). Here are the pics as the model stands. I need to put the decals on, the windshield wipers, blue the windows to the body and put on the license plates.

It's almost done!!!!!!

Superb!
Too many kits are started on this site and never finished, so nice to see you are almost there!
Make sure you do the window rubbers, and I recommend matt black automotive paint or Tamiya paint for this. I am very pleased with the results on my Calsonic Skyline.
Look forward to seeing it done, the wheels are awesome!
Don't rub through that paint when you polish it!

Yeah, the stuff that I have on there now is the stuff that can either be removed or polished. I have a really fine tip pin .1 mm for the seams but are you saying that I should mask and spray to get that sill? I know that I should NOT hand paint it. It looks like CRAP! Can you tell me what I should do?

I got a new digital camera today and it takes great shots!

check it out!

Clockwise from interior:
1) Interior with radio, custom seats and guages not to mention MOMO steering wheel.
2) The Evo's monster intercooler replete with custom Mitsu logo.
3) Another shot of the interior with the emphasis on the custom Recaro seats.
4) The underside of the car complete with working axles and steerable wheels.
5) My custom tinted windows.
6) O-Z 17" Super Turismo Rims
7) and finally that oh so cruel front end. I love the mesh!!

edit: added photo in place of promise of photo...

Update and a gift for Dan!

General Modelling* Situation:
I got my Blue Nissan Skyline GTR R34 ChoroQ in today from HobbyLink. That was cool. It's so much fun just like the box said (see signature!). I spent my my modelling money from my paycheck on Saturday getting paints for my Tamiya Nissan Skyline R34 GTR. I've decided that it will be metallic black with a carbon fiber hood. But here's the catch. I'm going to chop it up and use putty to make it look like a Nismo hood. I'm also going to take out the turnsignal lights on the front and the indention for the license plate in the front. Still scrounging for money for the putty. Pray to God that it works! I did get PRIMER , repeat: I got PRIMER . I also got Tamiya Compound for my Integra and Lancer and boy oh boy does it look good.

Here are some updated pictures!
A little doctoring on this one, but look at the great reflections.

Okay so it doesn't have anything to do with polish, but it looks cool don't it?

* I spell modelling with two L's. It's perfectly acceptable according to Webster's so deal with it! :silly2:
