Tranny Whine and front end squeek 98GCL

I've just purchased a '98 GCL 5.2L with 58K miles. I have 2 questions for you all:

1. I seem to have a whistling sound as I start up, accelerating from 1st to 2nd gear. I've also owned a '94 for 3 years and it now has 128K on it. This Jeep does not make this sound. Normal or Not? (It does seem to shift OK, though.)

2. The front end seems to squeek on bumps and a little in turns. Not bad but I want to know if this is normal or not?
