don't know if this is the same problem you're having or not, but I remembered seeing this yesterday, maybe it will help: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=460782

Re: stupid brake lights stay on

that's not the case with me... but today for some reason when i would go around a turn super sharp or something or if i would brake really rapidly really hard, my e-brake light would come on and stay on for about like 15 seconds and then it would disappear as i would keep on driving.

brake fluid is low. meaning u'r brake pads r low. so don't just fill the fluid, put on new pads.

sweet i get that too when i really accelerate hard, never thought to ask. i've realized my brakes are starting to squeek now and then. so fluid and pads will take care of that?

actually just pads(shoes) will take care of that. as the pads(shoes) wear low, the brake caliper piston(wheel cylinder pistons) moves out further to account for the thinner pads(shoes). well the fluid fills the void left in the brake caliper cylinder(wheel cylinder) to account for this. when u put new pads(shoes) on u will have to push the pistons back in to clear the pads(shoes) around the rotors(drums). this will in turn push the fluid back into ur master cylinder. thus raising the fluid level back to full (unless u have had a brake fluid leak) and turning off the low brake fluid level warning light switch.
now u r supposed to replace u'r brake fluid every 30k, but hardly any one does.

Re: stupid brake lights stay on

im thinking.. or i guess hoping that he's just taking them out when he parks or something just so he doesnt run out his battery when the car is off..

and thanks to honda_luvr, makes sense now.

any suggestions for good pads? i hear ceramic ones dont produce much visible brake dust.. but i have no idea about their quality.

also, do you know if "Hawk" rotors are any good? i've seen them on ebay and now a shop close by me has them in stock (slotted ones). worth it or no?
