Question cant figure it out

ive got a 2002 Xtreme and i put a new CD player in it yesterday. i also have an amp and 2 12"s in the extended cab. the player worked fine for about 5 minutes and then the amp shut off. i cut off the ignition then cut it back on and the amp has power but im not getting the music to play through the subs. i turned the amp all the way down and started to adjust it up and the subs started making a really loud noise. i have changed all the fuses in the amp and the in-line power wire fuse. i bought new audio plugs and redid my ground wire and still cant figure it out. if any of you can help me i would really appreciate it. Thank You

Re: cant figure it out

ok after another 2 hours of screwing around in my garag i think i found the problem when i hooked my old audio converter up and it worked fine. now the only question is can the audio plugs in the back of a head unit go bad if so can it be fixed and how much will that cost me

Re: cant figure it out

in short no. It is not worth the money or time. Because you don't know how far the problem goes back in the jacks and when you go digging around in the head unit the circuit cards are more prone to recieve electrostatic shock. Then something else won't work.use the, well call it a transciever. Much easier that is how you hook up systems with factory head units.
