200 grand am misfire cylinder #1

I have a mis fire on cylinder # 1 and the mil keeps coming on. I have changed the plugs and the coil adapter housing, checked the cam sensor and the injector seems to be firing I can hear it. Any ideas what could be going on? Seems to be worse when car is not warmed up. really rough idle at times and as it warms up the problem dissapears.
any help would be apppreciated.

Darren

Welcome to the forum. Just because you can hear the injector firing doesn't mean that it's neccesarily firing properly. It could very well be clogged / dirty to the point of causing a misfire. I would try running some concentrated Lucas fuel injector cleaner; and if that doesn't make a difference, you might want to try having them professionally purged / cleaned - this can make a huge difference.

i had what sounds be a very similar problem, my car was running extremely rough(like it needed a tune up but when that was done, it didn't help anything) and then sometimes it would run completely fine but when i took it to autozone for the free diagnostics it also said, cylinder one misfire!....well what it ended up being was just a terminal on the injector!
hope this helps

Re: 200 grand am misfire cylinder #1

99% of misfires is due to injector malfunctions. Either themselvse or in the wiring. The cylinder that has the missfire is usually the culprit, either way it not functioning right and will throw a code now and again. Crapy fuel will make the misfires occure more offten also.

I to hav had the misfires, runs like crap, shut it off go to the store, it runs fine, shut if off later and its back. One by one I replaced all the injectors. No more misfires. Now I make sure to take care of the fuel system better by using cleaners and replacing fuel filter as stated by GM.
