Tired of husband replacing parts Help.

Ok in February my heater stopped blowing, you could still feel the heat but it was like standing next to a radaint heater, if I cracked the windows going 60 it blew. I checked all fuses, traced the wiring, nothing. My husband pulled the blower motor, that was frozen, so he replaced that, He replaced the circute breaker, still nothing, Chilton's manual said there was a resistor under the blower motor, we replaced that. I told him to stop at this point I will take it to the mechanic, That pissed him off. He goes back to the store and buys new switches for the control panel 300 dollars later still nothing and found out that it affects the A/C the same way it was cold but it was like standing next to the frdige with the door open. My husband not paying attention hit a raeised railroad track going 45 A/C kickes on. Turned the car off doesn't work anymore. He knows about the blend doors but doesnt want to listen that it may be the cause. He insist's the A/C unit is good, the clutch is good, the fan is good. It Clicks and pulls a lot of ampage when the A/C or heater is on.

HELP PLEASE!! Suggestions, should I take it to the mechanic or just replace the A/C unit? Hubby's Dad and my senial chevy mechanic of a Dad thinks its a computer problems?

It is a 97 with 158,000 miles. the A/C is cold and the heater is hot. it just won't blow. unless you hit a big bump or you run the freeway.

Does the fan motor run? If not, look for a bad connection at the blower motor. If fan runs, look to blend doors.

Re: Tired of husband replacing parts Help.

The blower is in-op , but comes on when you hit a bump? Sounds like you may have a bad connection! If your husband has a test light have him check for power at the blower mtr connecter. If not try thumping on the dash and shaking the harness to see if the light comes on (if powers restored while focusing on an area of the harness or connecter the ckts broken!) If you have a hot wire chk ground ckt by hooking the light to the + battery terminal and probeing the other terminal in the blower connecter with the key off. Try differant fan spd selections. the light should be on with changeing brightness according to spd mode. If not on in all modes (example: High only) Pos spd resister failure. If not at all shake harness like previous, look for loose chassis grounds! (Since you've already replaced the resister its safe to rule out thermal limiter failure!) If your Chilton manual has wireing diagrams use them to locate related system grounds. Loosen & retighten them to be sure of good connection. Just some things to start with! GOOD LUCK!!
