Question dealer or Jiffylube?

would it be safe to have auto transmission fluid flush for my ES300 done at Jiffylube instead of at the Lexus dealer? Jiffylube is much cheaper, but I am wondering if it needs any special equipment that Jiffylube might not have. thanks for replies......

Cool

People are just as prone to put powersteering fluid in your transmission at jiffylube as they are to put it in brake lines everywhere.

Ask how many quarts it will take jiffylube to flush the transmission. There shouldn't be a signifigant differance anyplace. They're probably only draining & refilling the pan (It takes 12-15 quarts of fluid to flush).

Also make sure who ever does it drops the transmission pan, cleans it, the pick-up screen & replaces the transmission filter.
Lexus/Toyota dealers are generally the only people that don't go what the *u*k when the words "transmission filter" are heard.

Re: dealer or Jiffylube?

I am afraid your warning may have come too late for me. I took my ES300 to jiffy lube yesterday. Today, i just wanted to check the ATF level and found that the dipstick said "TYPE-T" fluid. But the jiffy lube receipt says they put Dexron in the automatic transmission. Should I go back and have it changed? or is the auto gtransmission done for and should I contact my lawyer? !! The car has only 30K miles on it. Help....

Cool

Na it's not going to kill it. T-type is basically an advanced Dexron III. Go make them FLUSH it asap tho.

It should take them 12-15 quarts to flush. Toyota/lexus normally sells T-type for like $4.00 a quart, so they're going to pay for their mistake hahahahahaha

hah.
