No Low or High Speed for Blower Motor

On my 97 GP, the blower motor will not work on speed 1 or 5. I'm assuming the motor is essentially a two speed motor with a resistor to give you 2, 3 and 4, but not sure as to what would be causing this.

If anyone has any tips, I'd appreciate the help.

Do you have manual HVAC or digital climate control? If you have a manual its the Blower Motor Resistor. For auto it's called a Blower Motor Control Module.

Manual controls.

Is the resistor located in the fan assembly (squirrel cage and motor) or is it mounted in the blower housing? On some HVAC system I know it's mounted inside the blower housing.

Its located in the lower evaporator/blower assembly in the bottom of the ducting. You have to remove the blower motor assembly to get to it. There should be 3 - 5.5mm bolts that hold the blower motor.

Re: No Low or High Speed for Blower Motor

Thanks again for the help bnaylor.

I ordered the resistor, replaced it and I have all five fan speeds now.

The new design is much better looking than the original.
